Hand hygiene can reduce the spread of infectious diseases

Dirty hands harbor a large number of dangerous microorganisms. Even minor scratches or wounds can cause viral diseases, bacterial, fungal, and intestinal infections, helminth infections, etc. The list of diseases that are transmitted by contact, including through dirty hands, is extremely long, but it is quite simple to interrupt it - to keep your hands clean.

Therefore, when healthcare facilities value hand hygiene and take measures to prevent and control infections, it allows visitors and employees to feel protected.

This was the focus of the training on hand hygiene conducted by the Infection Control Department of the Center for Preventive Medicine. The training was attended by specialists of the State Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Vinnytsia region, Speakers - Lyubov Kovalchuk, Head of the Department of Antimicrobial Resistance, Infection Prevention and Infection Control, Lishchun Angela, epidemiologist and Rachuk Anatoliy, Head of the CPM.

During the training, the specialists practiced the main aspects of hand treatment with antiseptics and discussed the algorithm of hand treatment. They also discussed the following topics:

-Hospital-acquired infections - a global problem of our time

-Hygienic hand treatment with soap and antiseptic - what is the difference?

Indications for hand treatment with an alcohol-containing antiseptic.

-The most common mistakes during hand treatment.

-The importance of regular staff training on hand hygiene.

-The use of gloves in the performance of professional duties.

Hand hygiene can reduce the spread of infectious diseases and is the first line of defense against new and emerging antibiotic-resistant infections.
